Did you ever talk to God above

January 2nd, 2009

This is an enjoyable Sunday school song for kids and adults alike.

Lyrics: Frances Towle Rath
Music: Greg SouleĀ

Did you ever talk to God above?
Tell Him that you need a friend to love.
Pray in Jesus’ name believing
that God answers prayer.

Have you told Him all your cares and woes?
Ev’ry tiny little fear He knows.
You can know He’ll always hear
And He will answer prayer.

You can whisper in a crowd to Him.
You can cry when you’re alone to Him.
You don’t have to pray out loud to Him;
He knows your thoughts.

On a lofty mountain peak, He’s there.
In a meadow by a stream, He’s there.
Anywhere on earth you go,
He’s been there from the start.

Find the answer in His Word; it’s true.
You’ll be strong because He walks with you.
By His faithfulness He’ll change you, too.
God answers prayer.

My Wonderful Shepherd (Ps23)

December 27th, 2008

Rev S.H. Tow has arranged this beautiful hymn based on music by Mendelssohn.

Lyrics: Rev S. H. Tow
Music: Mendelssohn

The Lord’s my wonderful shepherd,
In Him I shall not want
He makes me lie in green pastures,
He leads me to waters still
To me my soul He restoreth,
In righteous pathways He leads
He leads me for His own name’s sake,
So gently leadeth me;

Refrain:
The Lord’s my wonderful Shepherd,
He gently leads me home.

My soul He sweetly restoreth,
To righteousness and peace
Yea, thru death’s valley of shadow,
With Him shall I safely go
The darkness shall not affright me,
For Thou art by my side
Thy rod, they staff they comfort me,
No ill shall ever betide

A table Thou hast prepared me
in presence of my foes
My head with oil Thou hast ‘nointed,
My cup it doth overflow
Goodness and mercy shall follow,
Thru all the days of my life
And in God’s house will I dwell ever more,
In mansions fair will I dwell

Jesus Loves Even Me

December 26th, 2008

A wonderful children’s hymn. But so relevant, even to us all.

This hymn, “Jesus Loves Even Me,” was written and composed by Bliss after attending a meeting where the hymn “O How I Love Jesus” was repeated frequently. The thought occured to Bliss, “Have I not been singing enough about my poor love for Jesus and shall I not rather sing of His great love for me?” Under the impulse of this thought Philip Bliss composed this hymn, later to become one of the all-time favorite children’s hymns.

Lyrics and Music: Philip P Bliss

I am so glad that our Father in heav’n
Tells of His love in the Book He has giv’n;
Wonderful things in the Bible I see,
This is the dearest, that Jesus loves me.

Refrain:
I am so glad that Jesus loves me,
Jesus loves me, Jesus loves me.
I am so glad that Jesus loves me,
Jesus loves even me.

Though I forget Him, and wander away,
Still He doth love me wherever I stray;
Back to His dear loving arms I do flee,
When I remember that Jesus loves me.

Oh, if there’s only one song I can sing,
When in His beauty I see the great King,
This shall my song through eternity be,
“Oh, what a wonder that Jesus loves me!”

Jesus loves me, and I know I love Him;
Love brought Him down my poor soul to redeem;
Yes, it was love made Him die on the tree;
Oh, I am certain that Jesus loves me!
