Pray For Yerushalayim

November 1st, 2014

Here is an original hymn which is based on Psalm 122. The music is Israel’s National Anthem.

Lyrics: Rev (Dr) Jeffrey Khoo
Music: HATIKVAH – Trad. Israeli

I was glad when they said to me
Let us go into the house of the LORD.
Our feet shall stand within thy gates,
Within thy gates Ye-ru-sha-la-yim

Refrain:
Pr-ay for Ye-ru-sha-la-yim,
Peace to her Sha-lom with-in thy walls.
For all my bre-thren and com-panions’ sake
I will now sing peace to you ag-ain.
For all my bre-thren and com-panions’ sake
I will now sing peace to you ag-ain.

Ye-ru-sha-layim is built up-on a mount,
A ci-ty that is com-pact to-ge-ther.
When the tribes go up to thank the LORD,
It is be-cuase the Son of Da-vid reigns.

Am I A Soldier Of The Cross?

October 22nd, 2014

Lyrics: Isaac Watts
Music: Thomas A. Arne

Am I a soldier of the cross,
A follower of the Lamb,
And shall I fear to own His cause,
Or blush to speak His Name?

Must I be carried to the skies
On flowery beds of ease,
While others fought to win the prize,
And sailed through bloody seas?

Are there no foes for me to face?
Must I not stem the flood?
Is this vile world a friend to grace,
To help me on to God?

Sure I must fight if I would reign;
Increase my courage, Lord.
I’ll bear the toil, endure the pain,
Supported by Thy Word.

Thy saints in all this glorious war
Shall conquer, though they die;
They see the triumph from afar,
By faith’s discerning eye.

When that illustrious day shall rise,
And all Thy armies shine
In robes of victory through the skies,
The glory shall be Thine.

Marching To Zion

October 11th, 2014

Lyrics: Isaac Watts (refrain by Robert Lowry)
Music: Robert Lowry

Come, we that love the Lord,
And let our joys be known;
Join in a song with sweet accord,
Join in a song with sweet accord
And thus surround the throne,
And thus surround the throne.

Refrain:
We’re marching to Zion,
Beautiful, beautiful Zion;
We’re marching upward to Zion,
The beautiful city of God.

Let those refuse to sing,
Who never knew our God;
But children of the heavenly King,
But children of the heavenly King
May speak their joys abroad,
May speak their joys abroad.

Then let our songs abound,
And every tear be dry;
We’re marching through Immanuel’s ground,
We’re marching through Immanuel’s ground,
To fairer worlds on high,
To fairer worlds on high.

In The Name Of Jesus

October 6th, 2014

Lyrics and Music: unknown

In the Name of Jesus,
In the Name of Jesus,
We have the victory;

In the Name of Jesus,
In the Name of Jesus,
We have the victory,

Who can tell of
God’s pow’rful works,
Who can fathom
God’s great love;

In the Name of Jesus, Jesus,
We have the victory.

Jesus, Rose Of Sharon

September 20th, 2014

ptpm-singspiration

Over the last few weeks, I have been involved in helping to compile a hymn book entitled “PTPM Pilgrimage Singspiration”. This is a bilingual song book (English and Chinese). If you are interested in getting a copy or in going for a Holy Land Study Tour, contact Rev Paul Lee Tan at http://tanbible.com

Lyrics: Ida A. Guirey
Music: Charles H. Gabriel

Jesus, Rose of Sharon, bloom within my heart;
Beauties of Thy truth and holiness impart,
That where’er I go my life may shed abroad
Fragrance of the knowledge of the love of God.

Refrain:
Jesus, Rose of Sharon,
Bloom in radiance and in love within my heart.

Jesus, Rose of Sharon, sweeter far to see
Than the fairest flow’rs of earth could ever be,
Fill my life completely, adding more each day
Of Thy grace divine and purity, I pray.

Jesus, Rose of Sharon, balm for every ill,
May Thy tender mercy’s healing pow’r distil
For afflicted souls of weary burdened men,
Giving needy mortals health and hope again.

Jesus, Rose of Sharon, bloom forevermore;
Be Thy glory seen on earth from shore to shore,
Till the nations own Thy sov’reignty complete,
Lay their honors down and worship at Thy feet.

I Know The Lord Will Make A Way For Me

September 13th, 2014

Here’s a short but well loved chorus.

Lyrics: Anonymous

I know the Lord will make a way for me,
I know the Lord will make a way for me,
If I look to Him and pray,
Darkest night will turn to day,
I know the Lord will make a way for me.

Come And Dine

September 5th, 2014

Lyrics and Music: Charles B. Widmeyer

Jesus has a table spread
Where the saints of God are fed,
He invites His chosen people, “Come and dine”;
With His manna He doth feed
And supplies our every need:
Oh, ’tis sweet to sup with Jesus all the time!

Refrain:
“Come and dine,” the Master calleth, “Come and dine”;
You may feast at Jesus’ table all the time;
He Who fed the multitude, turned the water into wine,
To the hungry calleth now, “Come and dine.”

The disciples came to land,
Thus obeying Christ’s command,
For the Master called unto them, “Come and dine”;
There they found their heart’s desire,
Bread and fish upon the fire;
Thus He satisfies the hungry every time.

Soon the Lamb will take His bride
To be ever at His side,
All the host of heaven will assembled be;
Oh, ’twill be a glorious sight,
All the saints in spotless white;
And with Jesus they will feast eternally.

O For A Thousand Tongues To Sing

August 23rd, 2014

Lyrics: Charles Wesley
Music: AZMON

O for a thousand tongues to sing
My great Redeemer’s praise,
The glories of my God and King,
The triumphs of His grace!

My gracious Master and my God,
Assist me to proclaim,
To spread through all the earth abroad
The honors of Thy name.

Jesus! the name that charms our fears,
That bids our sorrows cease;
’Tis music in the sinner’s ears,
’Tis life, and health, and peace.

He breaks the power of canceled sin,
He sets the prisoner free;
His blood can make the foulest clean,
His blood availed for me.

Hear Him, ye deaf; His praise, ye dumb,
Your loosened tongues employ;
Ye blind, behold your Savior come,
And leap, ye lame, for joy.

If God Be For Us

August 11th, 2014

This is such an encouraging hymn! The chorus is based on Rom 8:31 – If God be for us, who can be against us? I especially like the last stanza which is based on John 10:29 – My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. Indeed we have eternal security with Christ.

Lyrics and Music: James McGranahan

Rejoice in the Lord! Oh, let His mercy cheer;
He sunders the bands that enthrall;
Redeemed by His blood, why should we ever fear,
Since Jesus is our all in all?

Refrain:
If God be for us, if God be for us,
if God be for us,
Who can be against us?
Who? who? who?
Who can be against us, against us?

Be strong in the Lord! rejoicing in His might,
Be loyal and true day by day;
When evils assail, be valiant for the right,
And He will be our strength and stay.

Confide in His Word, His promises so sure;
In Christ they are yea and amen;
Though earth pass away, they ever shall endure,
’Tis written o’er and o’er again.

Abide in the Lord, secure in His control,
’Tis life everlasting begun;
To pluck from His hand the weakest, trembling soul,
It never, never can be done!

Tis The Blessed Hour Of Prayer

July 26th, 2014

Lyrics: Fanny Crosby
Music: Howard Doane

’Tis the blessed hour of prayer, when our hearts lowly bend,
And we gather to Jesus, our Saviour and Friend;
If we come to Him in faith, His protection to share,
What a balm for the weary, O how sweet to be there!

Refrain:
Blessed hour of prayer, blessed hour of prayer,
What a balm for the weary, O how sweet to be there!

’Tis the blessed hour of prayer, when the Saviour draws near,
With a tender compassion His children to hear;
When He tells us we may cast at His feet every care,
What a balm for the weary, O how sweet to be there!

’Tis the blessed hour of prayer, when the tempted and tried
To the Saviour Who loves them their sorrow confide;
With a sympathizing heart He removes every care;
What a balm for the weary, O how sweet to be there!

At the blessed hour of prayer, trusting Him, we believe
That the blessing we’re needing we’ll surely receive;
In the fullness of the trust we shall lose every care;
What a balm for the weary, O how sweet to be there!
